The BYU Central Heating Plant CoGen project consists of the modernization of the existing BYU Central Heating Plant from coal fired boilers to natural gas cogeneration.

This project includes: A building addition to house a turbine Solar Titan 130 and new mechanical and electrical equipment. In addition, modifications are being made to the existing structure in order to house the Heat Return Unit and a new control room. The scope also includes additions to the campus electrical distribution system and the north, south and west substations. The new facility will provide heating and cooling capabilities for campus and will offset 30 to 50 percent of BYU’s current electrical needs, all without burning coal.
