After a successful start-up and commissioning phase, the new Waimea Water Treatment Plant is now producing approximately 2 million gallons of drinking water per day for Big Island communities. Bodell Construction has completed the modifications to several existing structures for improving water processing. The construction of a new membrane process building (shown) will help expand capacity and provide microfiltration to block out pathogens from rainwater collection and reservoirs for use by the islands residents of Waimea, South Kohala and Hamakua areas.
